FAQ
What is involved in the photo walk?
I will guide you through a slow-paced nature walk and discuss how I frame photo compositions, answer any photography questions, and walk with you in nature to capture beautiful shots of the area and place we walk. Available for any skill level, bring your own gear, a disposable camera, or your phone.
What is forest bathing?
A slow sensory walk, not a workout. Originally called shinrin yoku, a wellness practice that started in Japan in the 1980s. Engaging all senses to lower stress, improve mood, boost immunity, and promote overall well-being by connecting with nature and its healing compounds.
Where are you based?
I travel along the Gulf Coast. I am based in Orange Beach, Alabama, and Pensacola, Florida. I'm on the Florida-bama line. I will list different places where I will host a guided walk.
How should I prepare for a guided walk?
We will walk about 1-2 miles maybe less, for 1-4 hours. The intention is slow-paced about creating a mental reset and digital detox (phone in airplane mode or left behind). When in nature, bring water, bug spray, sunscreen, closed-toe shoes, a towel or blanket, and weather-appropriate clothing.
Please let me know of any disabilities, allergies, or concerns.
What will we be doing for so many hours?
The session can be 1-4 hours. We have many different exercises and practices we will do when in nature. Some exercises include photo walks, journaling, stillness & silence, mindful walks, tea ceremony, meditation, sharing our experences in nature, and many other mindfulness exercises.
Why does this cost and what makes you qualified?
I am a certified forest bathing nature guide, where I can teach others how to do this practice in a group setting. As many can do this on their own, it's a whole new and different experience when having it in a group to build a community. I was inspired to do this when I took a forest bathing class with the author Florence Williams of the book "The Nature Fix." Also, with my experience as a nature photographer, I understand how nature heals the mind and body. I will share my knowledge and skills with you in our sessions.
